North Bristol B 0 South Glos 1, by Nick Segger, 19/01/2008

When mid season break came and with friendlies over the Christmas period finished, all the preparation was for what many had described as the big game which was the top of the table clash. once this game had been won the game after was always going to be a struggle as the team lost their focus as you donut win leagues or get promoted if you only win the big games as arsenal and Chelsea had found out...

The conditions as we arrived to the game at north Bristol were appalling and this lead to a very slow and short warm up as no one wanted to be out in the torrential rain that came with the start of the game. But the weather proved to be in our favour in the first half as we dominated the territory and position and created numerous chances at the start of the game. it was a quick hit and pass from Tim that led to a poachers goal at the far post from Andy striker Irwin, this was the only highlight in the game from the south glos point of view.

the game was slow in both movement and passing, and was not the day to be static as the weather conditions were conclusive to poor hockey and north Bristol were certainly not going to disappoint with a victorious cry of it only 1-0 at half time!!

the 2nd half was in much the same vain as the end of the first half with poor passing and little adventure from both teams as well as some very interesting tackling from north Bristol which was at applauded by the umpires!!!

as the game end drew closer more and more stringent umpiring crept into the game and culminated in a short being given for a foot outside the 25 on the grounds of it being deliberate!!! the game ended 1-0 to the mighty south glos and if were are to have aspirations of being promoted a better more consistent display needs to be on display.

man of the match was clear cut as choc was excellent all game and really stood out as quality when not much was on display in the game!!!
